Emergency Water Barrel Sale Reorder!

Our Harvest Festival Emergency Water Barrel Sale was a whopping success so we are doing a reorder for those of your who missed out, who want additional barrels, or have neighbors you’ve convinced to buy one or more!

Why water barrels? One of the most essential items in any emergency is water! Storing enough water for your family during the first few weeks after a disaster is one of the most important things you will need to prepare for, and should be the first item you add to any emergency supplies. Experts recommend that you store 1 gallon of water per family member/ per day for 14 days (for drinking and hygiene). For a family of 4, that means 56 gallons of water. If you have pets, you’ll want to store more. And if you have the storage space, purchasing and maintaining multiple water barrels will be helpful for people in your community that have no access to water.

Richmond PTA’s Emergency Preparedness team is excited to offer pre-used, rinsed, BPA-free, food-grade 55-gallon emergency water storage barrels for $30 each to help our families, neighbors and communities better prepare for natural disasters such as a Cascadia Subduction Zone event.

Barrel orders will be taken from February 26th – March 14th. You must be able to pick up your barrel on Saturday March 17th at Richmond Elementary School between 12 noon and 4pm. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to store barrels for later pick up. We are also not able to offer home delivery this time.

Barrels are available for purchase online at the Richmond PTA Store at:

Paper order forms will be available by the front office and may be returned with payment (cash or check made out to Richmond PTA) and placed in the Red PTA Mailbox or mailed to Richmond PTA, 2276 SE 41st Ave, Portland, OR 97214 before March 14th.
